I spoke to Marie (owner of Firefly Expressions) and unfortunately, with her health declining, she’s decided to slowly close her doors. She will continue to work on listing her current inventory of clearance and closeout products, but will not be stocking new product.

With our DT term at an end, Nicolle and I bid a fond farewell to the Firefly Expressions store. Working with Marie has been a joy and we wish her all the best!

Before we go though, I would like to share a layout by Nicolle that has not been posted to the blog before (the first photo) and then a few of our favorite projects created for our dt assignments. 😀

Here are Nicolle’s gorgeous layouts:

This layout was created using Basic Grey’s Urban Couture which can be found in the FFE Store HERE. The entire paper collection pack is just $8.99!

Here are a few projects I (Doris) created for our assignments:

Hope you’ve enjoyed our projects over the last 4 months! If you’d like to continue seeing our work, hop on over to our personal blogs! 😀

As we finish out our dt terms here on the Firefly Expressions blog, I’d like to share with you a couple of Nicolle’s fabulous layouts created using her personal stash of Piggy Tales products (several of the papers used on her pages are currently available in the Firefly Expressions store, HERE).

I love the masking on this layout with the fun details she added to the negative image. Check out the wonderful layering and fabulous handmade flower!

I love how her embellishments enhance the terrific photo she captured of her daughter rocking out on a guitar.

Thanks for the fantastic inspiration, Nicolle!

Be sure to join us again on Friday as we wrap up this week’s feature on Piggy Tales! Hope you have a wonderfully creative week!

This week, Doris and Nicolle were sent some Tim Holtz striped grungeboard alphas to work with. Nicolle was assigned the letter “T” and here’s the gorgeous layout she created when she paired the grungeboard with some fabulous Indie Girl papers by Sassafras:

Check out the wonderful layering and handmade pin on her beautifully distressed layout! She opted to distress the grungeboard with blue ink which really draws out the striped detailing.

Doris was sent the letter “P” and she decided to match them with the lovely Blae & Ivy papers by Kaisercraft. Her beautifully dimensional layout is based on November’s sketch #2 on their blog. By turning some of the letters upside down and flipping one over, she was able to use the P’s as D’s and a B as well. Here’s what she came up with:

By using cardboard and some foam dots, she’s able to elevate the lace bordered circle to match the height of 2 of the rosettes in order to maintain focus on her photo. The 3rd rosette and the lavender flower are propped up using Helmar’s Liquid Scrap Dots.

Great job, ladies! If you have a project that uses any of the Tim Holtz products currently available in our store and would like to share, please click the “reader submissions” tab at the top of the page for details on how your layout, card or altered project could be featured here on the blog or in our store gallery!

This ever popular range of techniques retains popularity due to its ability to turn a simple project to a creation that will withstand the test of time. In a world where the moments of our lives can be captured and created in art of the everyday, it’s important it reflects our own unique personality. Finding just the right objects, accents, and tools to use are most important. Whatever your artistic vision is, exploring the imaginative is a chance for our creativity to escape understanding. Remember life isn’t about finding yourself – life is about creating yourself…”
